Mozambique: Risk of Maritime Attacks Increases in Cabo Delgado
Concern, in reserved circles, is heightened not only in relation to Afungi (onshore) but also to the FLNG Coral Sul floating platform, currently in operation, and the future FLNG Coral Norte, under construction. The increasing use of maritime resources allows insurgents to circumvent land-based security measures, enhance mobility through the use of maritime means for eventual withdrawals and movements along the coast, and also use the Quirimbas archipelago as a refuge and support base.
