Mozambique: Maputo Avoids “Collateral Damage” from US-Rwanda Tension
Maputo has not only been accommodating Rwandan demands – both economic and political, notably the extradition agreement signed with Rwanda – but has also supported Kigali in its attempt to secure the continued financial support from the EU for the Rwandan mission, which is still pending. The growing US interest in critical minerals also located in Mozambique (AM 1540) has allowed the DRC/Rwanda dossier to remain separate from US relations.
