At the same time, a project is underway to postpone the municipal elections to 2029, taking place on the same day as the legislative and presidential elections. The government claims that this is a measure to save state resources, giving time for the constitutional review resulting from the inclusive dialogue process and consultations to occur without haste. The opposition has already spoken out against this plan, claiming that it is a maneuver by FRELIMO to facilitate electoral manipulation.
