With no signs of eliminating the insurgent activity, which has now been active for almost 10 years, there is in fact a greater concentration of attacks in the center and south of the province. The insecurity, which has caused more than 16,000 new refugees among the population of Ancuabe and the neighboring district of Montepuez, to which refugees from Chiúre are expected to be added, is aggravated by the growing discontent of public employees in the province, who have been without salaries for several months.
