Equatorial Guinea: New Diplomat to Attract US Oil Companies

Relations with the US have been deteriorating, largely due to the withdrawal of American multinationals from the oil sector, whose activity has declined. Exxon Mobil, which symbolized the US presence in the country, where it operated since the beginning of oil exploration in the Zafiro well (block B), abandoned it following a strategic reorientation initiated in 2022.
