Angola/São Tomé and Príncipe: Lourenço's 'Hand' in Patrice's Removal

Until his removal, PATRICE TROVOADA (PT) maintained distant relations with the Angolan PR JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL) and entered into conflict with some sectors of the MPLA, mainly over control of ROSEMA, whose ownership was claimed by MELLO XAVIER, an Angolan businessman removed from the brewery in the wake of a court decision considered instrumentalized and with direct intervention by circles close to the former PM (AM 1422). On the other hand, PT developed close relations with the PR of Guinea-Bissau, UMARO SISSOCO EMBALÓ, with whom JL maintains tensions.
