Angola: USA Rising with Biden's Visit, China and Russia Falling

The openness that Angolan authorities have begun to show towards a tightening of their relations with the USA is seen in Angolan political circles as a "natural consequence" of the current regime of JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL) adopting a line of increased distancing from Russia and China, partially fueled by doubts regarding the "real utility" for Angola of relations with both countries.
The relations between China and Angola have been going through a phase of decline in recent years, manifested in facts such as JL's absence from the recent China-Africa Forum in Beijing (explained by a convenience reason intended to disguise its deliberate nature) or the delay, considered politically ostentatious, to which the Chinese subjected the appointment of a new ambassador in Luanda.
