Mozambique: Troubled LAM Again Excluded from IATA Payment System
For the second time in the last four months, the flag carrier Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) has been suspended from the international regulator IATA Clearing House (ICH), this time for failing to pay Emirates, from the United Arab Emirates. This airline communicated to the market the termination of its interline agreements with LAM due to the non-payment of debts by the Mozambican company. Allegedly, the default was due to the shortage of foreign currency in the Mozambican market (AM 1474), but the lack of liquidity of LAM makes it a company dependent on Treasury transfers. READ MORE
