Mozambique: Dismissal of FADM Deputy Chief Exposes "Improvisation" in Cabo Delgado

The dismissal of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (FADM), BERTOLINO CAPITINE (BC), as a result of an intervention on the Cabo Delgado conflict at the Joaquim Chissano University, once again revealed a set of weaknesses in the State's actions since the beginning of the conflict in 2017. The "politically incorrect" speech by BC cost him his position, after putting in the political agenda the government's ineffectiveness in handling the conflict.
BC comes from the ranks of the military wing of RENAMO, having been integrated into the FADM as a result of the agreement on "balance" in military leadership, where a former RENAMO military officer is to hold the position of vice-CEMGFA. He was appointed vice-CEMGFA in JAN.2021. READ MORE
