Mozambique: Pressure to Show Results in Cabo Delgado
Despite the reports from the ground, the picture outlined by the government points to significant stability in the security situation, but with the persistence of the “terrorist threat”. CRISTOVÃO CHUME, Minister of Defence, acknowledged that the threat had not been eradicated from Cabo Delgado, but that a “desirable” level of security had been achieved, allowing the SADC military mission in Mozambique (SAMIM), whose mandate ended in July, to be dispensed with (AM 1464).
