PALOP: Russian Propaganda Initiatives in Africa Extended to Media
In recent months, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has adopted a more aggressive approach to African media. In intelligence circles, the involvement of the ministry, and in particular of the embassies in African capitals, is interpreted as a façade, concealing means and strategies assigned to Russian security services (FSB).
In APR, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was involved in organising an International Forum of Russia-Africa Journalists in Moscow, together with Lomonosov University (Moscow), during which a Russian-African strategy for the media began to be developed. Among the objectives undertaken is to limit the influence of Western media in Africa. As determined, the “face” of the initiative is OLEG OZEROV, general ambassador of the Ministry and head of the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, as well as president of the Russian-African Club of the same university.
