Sao Tome and Principe: Economic Crisis Weakens Patrice
The worsening economic and the cost of living crisis are increasing the political and social rejection of the Government of PM PATRICE TROVOADA (PT), while the solution of signing the credit facility agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is delayed by demands considered burdensome by PT.
Faced with difficulties in signing a credit facility agreement with the IMF, the Government has been resorting to reinforced collection of tax revenues, notably the value added tax (VAT) and the IRS, and is tightening the measures with coercive charges.
