Mozambique: Tensions and Political Calendars Delay Solution in Cabo Delgado
The calm of recent weeks does not overturn concerns over the post-SAMIM period, after the contingent of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) withdraws definitively, within three months. The Armed Defence Forces of Mozambique (FADM) will have to take steps to strengthen their presence in Cabo Delgado and become more effective, relying only on the Rwandan contingent, which will remain in the region without a predefined deadline. A possible withdrawal of the Rwandan should only happen in a scenario of cancellation of LNG projects in Palma, still unlikely despite the delay. READ MORE
