Angola: Lourenço Looks for Popularity Outside Luanda
JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL) is committed to broaden/strengthen his support base within the country, hoping to compensate for the unpopularity, considered “manifest”, which he is voted in Luanda. The initiative is specifically aimed at local elites and forces, holders of power and influences capable of contributing to an improvement in the degree of acceptance of JL among the common population.
The announcement of the formal indictment of ISABEL dos SANTOS (IS) by the prosecutor-general (PGR) in a case already sent to court in which she is accused of eleven crimes as Sonangol's CEO, also gave rise to reactions of acrimony against JL and of understanding/sympathy towards the businesswoman.
JL is also referred to in the “vox populi” as a mentor of an unusual measure that consisted of launching a campaign aimed at locating and recovering in various points of the country the remains of UNITA cadres and leaders allegedly ordered to execute by order of JONAS SAVIMBI.
