Mozambique: Military control in Cabo Delgado Still Distant Despite Reduction in Attacks
The activity of the Islamist-inspired armed groups active in Cabo Delgado has concentrated in the last year in the districts of Muidumbe, Macomia, Mocímboa da Praia, Nangade, Meluco, Ancuabe and Chiure. Despite the decline in attacks and the presence of insurgents throughout the province, hideouts remain, such as the Nkonga Forest (Nangade) and the Messalo and Lurio river regions (on the administrative border between Cabo Delgado and Nampula).
