Sao Tome and Principe: Inconsequential UN Report on Coup Attempt
The report was prepared jointly by the Working Groups on Arbitrary Detentions and Enforced Disappearances and the Special Rapporteurs on Physical and Mental Health, Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Freedom of Religion or Belief, and Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Acts. The experts assume that they do not intend, at this stage, to judge the accuracy of the “allegations”, leaving information on torture and executions to be factually verified, limiting themselves to listing what international law determines to be the obligations of States towards detainees.
