JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL) has not yet abandoned the idea (also used the term desideratum) of extending his presidential consulship beyond the two constitutionally permitted successive terms.

The alleged state of “nonconformity” of JL with a withdrawal at the end of his second presidential term, to take place in 2027, is attributed by the same sources to his own judgments according to which he was hampered in his action by adverse circumstances (the economic crisis in which he “was handed the country”, including high external debt and, subsequently, the pandemic), which did not allow him to carry out the reforms he had in mind.
