Mozambique: Karingani Project in the FRELIMO Network of Influences
The development of the project involved the displacement of a large part of the population, including more than 5,000 inhabitants who were convinced to exchange traditional pastures for minority shares in the Gingana Community Lodge, one of the resorts that make up the KGR, owned by Twin City Ecoturismo (TCE), the local entity that owns the Karingani concession and exploration, in partnership with the Australian Milton Group. The local community owns 40%, while TCE owns 60% of the exploration rights.
The project has been characterized by a high degree of conflict with the populations and the use by promoters of public means linked to FRELIMO. READ MORE
