Mozambique: Mphanda Nkuwa PPP Precipitates Financing Issue
The international tender (Request for Proposal) for the construction of the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric Power Plant and the selection of a strategic partner for Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and Hidroelétrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) is now in its final phase.
As verified, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) and the Mphanda Nkuwa Implementation Office (GMNK) have chosen two consortia, one of which will be responsible for the largest post-independence engineering project in the country. In this process, the government was supported by the UK's Tony Blair Institute (AM 1338). The dossier should be closed in the middle of this year and the works could start in 2024, with conclusion expected for 2030. READ MORE
