Angola: Marines and Commandos on DRC Peace Mission
Angola has been mediating between the DR Congo and Rwanda for some years, with a view to appeasing relations between the two countries. The support that Rwanda allegedly provides to the rebels of the M23 movement, who are fighting Congolese government forces in Kivu, is the main fulcrum of their incompatibilities.
The way in which Angola has exercised this role is not the subject of consensual assessments, and discreet criticisms of some of its aspects are known, namely with regard to its duties of impartiality (it leans towards the cause of the DRC) and the observance of the limits of its mandate. READ MORE
