Angola: Production Affected by “Preferential” Imports
National producers in the agricultural and livestock sector (corn, rice, sugar, pork and beef) are being affected by the inability that their products reveal to compete in the market with other, similar, imported under conditions considered "preferential" (tax exemption and breaks such as VAT payment in advance).
Factors such as the following contribute to the state of “dissatisfaction” that producers denote:
- They consider that they were encouraged to increase production in the name of policies to diversify the economy and replace imports, announced by JOÃO LOURENÇO (JL) at the beginning of his mandate.
- A company from a large distribution group proposed to buy stocks accumulated due to lack of market, but paying below production costs. READ MORE
