Although these are still tenuous signs and not always confirmed due to the confusion between mines and IED's, the use of these means by the insurgents reveals some degree of sophistication, as well as tactical objectives of exploiting the gradual increase of military patrols in the main routes of communication in the north-central provinces of Cabo Delgado.
