Angola: “Expanding” Drug Trafficking Gathers External Attention
The most common cases recorded so far are the illegal entry of drugs into the country's ports and airports (Brazil, main source) and behavior described as "suspicious" by the authorities, in particular with regard to alleged permissiveness in the entry of drugs or doubts as to the destination given to them later (local consumption or, on a larger scale, as is supposed, re-export).
The external attention that the phenomenon gives rise to is boosted by two additional reasons:
- Suspected drug production in the country involving individuals with political influence.
- Suspicions that individuals from the Chinese community are “animating” drug trafficking, driven by the abundant and easy proceeds from it. READ MORE
