Mozambique: Five Years After Indictment, Still No Judicial Decisions for Moza Banco Staff
After the filing by the Attorney General's Office of the criminal case presented by the Bank of Mozambique (BdM), represented by Governor ROGÉRIO ZANDAMELA (RZ), against the executive directors of Moza Banco (MB), the civil case is still dragging on in the courts, with developments that call into question the impartiality of Justice.
The sentences are legally suspended due to the appeals filed by the defendants, but none of those targeted would currently be able to pass the fit & proper processes of any central bank, given the lack of a formal filing process, and in practice prevented from exercising functions in the banking system. Some of those targeted were forced to resign several years later, when they were already carrying out executive tasks in other banks and countries, and compensation claims against the Mozambican state are expected from those targeted, namely in the Administrative Court.
