Mozambique: Internal Dispute Postpones RENAMO Disarmament
Until now c. of 4,200 RENAMO guerrillas were demobilized, although information circulates that not all the names included would be RENAMO members or guerrillas, indicating the intrusion in the process of individuals who had nothing to do with the armed struggle and only intend to receive the pension that is foreseen in the peace agreements between the Government and RENAMO of OSSUFO MOMADE (OM).
OM traveled to the Gorongosa base in person in mid-DEC.2022, staying there for several days. Initially, the objective was to formalize the closure of the base through the demobilization of stationed guerrillas.
