Great Lakes: Rekindling Conflict Forces Guterres to Rethink MONUSCO Future
The deterioration of the security situation in eastern DR Congo has contributed to a consensus among the international community on the need to maintain the current structure of MONUSCO, suspending its withdrawal. The renewal of the mission's mandate provides for the maintenance of the current deployment of 13,500 military personnel, 660 military observers and staff officers, 591 police officers and 1,050 members of formed police units.
