Mozambique: Insurrection Reactivates With Risk Scenario in Nampula
The expansion to the south of the activity of Islamic-inspired armed groups present in Cabo Delgado province indicates the displacement of part of the guerrillas previously on the offensive in northern districts such as Macomia, and also the arrival of reinforcements through neighboring Tanzania. Also contributing to the strengthening of cell activity, and tending towards a loss of control of the situation by the Mozambican security forces, is the maintenance of the capacity to recruit guerrillas in the adjacent provinces of Cabo Delgado, such as Nampula and Niassa, as a way of offset the defections registered in the north of the province in recent months.
