Mozambique: RENAMO National Council Fails to Resolve Internal Disputes
The National Council (CN) of RENAMO, which took place in Matola more than three years after the last meeting (APR.2019), denoted a lack of internal debate and confirmed the divisions among supporters of the current president OSSUFO MOMADE (OM) and those who claim to be heirs of AFONSO DHLAKAMA (AD).
Party sources accuse the leadership of not allowing members of internal organs to comment on the political situation, not giving them time to do so, and of promoting a policy of “cult of the leader”, with the distribution of propaganda articles with OM's image, despite the party's financial difficulties, relegating AD's historic position.
