Mozambique: Security in Cabo Delgado Complicated by Disorganized Return of Population
The persistence of the activity of Islamic-inspired armed groups targeting the population in some districts of Cabo Delgado is attributed to the greater "availability" of civilian targets in several regions, as a result of their need to return to their places of origin, without instructions from the government, usually unclear, about security conditions in the region.
The Mozambican government continues to focus on external support to resolve the security situation in Cabo Delgado, with more than 4,300 foreign military personnel on the ground (support and combat), with a tendency to involve new actors in the long term. READ MORE
