RD Congo: Regional Force Against Rebel Groups in the Great Lakes
Since MAY.2021, the Congolese government has extended a "state of siege" 17 times in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri. Since the end of 2021, joint military operations by the FARDC and the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) have continued, targeting the FDA.
The UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) has also intensified its operations in the east of the country. To be clarified is the crash, on 29.MAR, of a MONUSCO helicopter in North Kivu, on a surveillance and reconnaissance mission, which killed eight peacekeepers.
