Mozambique: Enduring Conflict in Cabo Delgado Affects Assistance to Populations
New waves of displaced people have emerged in the last two months, due to the return and dispersion of Islamic-inspired armed cells to areas previously less affected by the conflict, such as the northern part of the district of Mueda and Nangade, the south bank of the Messalo river, Meluco and areas bordering the provinces of Niassa and Nampula.
The armed cells still move with offensive intentions in the areas where the multinational contingent of SAMIM (SADC Mission in Mozambique) is deployed, which, despite the gradual reinforcement of men and equipment, namely aircraft, reveals difficulties in progress and control over the vast area under its responsibility.
